LG TVs typically have problems with outdated versions and models, but we’ll discuss that later.

Let’s first examine each of the fixes for LG TV AirPlay not working.

You can fix not working AirPlay by restarting your LG TV.

Unplugging your TV may seem like an obvious step to take, but it is the fastest way to reactivate AirPlay on your TV.

It is crucial that you wait a full 60 seconds before you take any action. Wait a minute before reconnecting your TV and ensure it hasn’t been more than a minute.

Don’t hold your remote, but hold the power button on your TV for thirty seconds when it’s unplugged!

This will also allow the TV to soft reset by draining any residual power, and it’s not as easy as turning the remote on and off!

Apple AirPlay should be working again after plugging in the TV for 60 seconds and turning it on.

If your LG TV AirPlay is not working properly, restarting it will usually fix any software bugs that could be causing it

Also, I recommend that you restart your Apple device while you are at it!

Due to the fact that both devices are on the identical network, AirPlay is not working on LG TV.

It is imperative to note that AirPlay only works when all devices are connected to an identical wireless network.

Most routers today have dual-band radio signals, which is what’s called dual-band technology. Your home devices can then be connected to two different networks (2.4 GHz or 5.0 GHz).

As a result of having two separate networks, you are able to enjoy faster speeds and greater flexibility. As a result of dual-bands, connection issues and interferences are avoided and overall stability is improved.

This can, however, result in AirPlay not working on LG TV when your LG TV is connected to a 2.4 GHz network, while your Apple device is connected to a 5.0 GHz network.

It is important to verify and ensure that both your LG TV and your Apple device are connected to an identical WiFi network in a few seconds!

Simply tap the gear icon on your remote and scroll down to Network to verify your LG TV WiFi network.

Double-check that AirPlay is enabled.

You may find that AirPlay on your LG TV is disabled, and if it is disabled, it will not work.

It is feasible to confirm this by pressing the HOME button on your LG TV remote and finally selecting “Home Dashboard” from the menu.

Then, by pressing the UP button on your remote control, you can access AirPlay > AirPlay and HomeKit Settings.

The last but not least step is to ensure that AirPlay is enabled on your device.

Your TV might have been reset to default settings recently, which might have disabled AirPlay.

NOTE: You may need to update the software on your LG TV or device if you do not see Apple or AirPlay options.

To fix LG TV AirPlay not working, you must disable or turn off the firewall on your computer.

Any operating system’s firewall may cause connectivity issues with other devices.

It is possible that a firewall on your MacBook (iOS) will prevent your hosting device from connecting to your TV when using Airplay.

The firewall settings must be adjusted to allow incoming connection requests from your TV in such a case. The firewall can be turned off completely or the incoming connection blocking can be disabled.

By clicking on the Firewall option in System Preferences > Security and Privacy, you can enable the firewall.

You can disable or uncheck the firewall, which means it will block all incoming connections by default.

If disabling the firewall doesn’t work, there are several other solutions worth trying.

LG TV AirPlay is Not Working due to outdated OS of LG TV.

LG TVs can run into a lot of problems if their software isn’t updated on a regular basis. If you check for any available LG TV OS updates in the settings menu of your TV, you may be able to resolve this issue.

As long as LG TVs are connected to the internet, they will automatically check for and install software updates.

To check for automatic updates.

  1. Press the Home/Start button on your remote.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Choose All Settings.
  4. Select General.
  5. Go down to About this TV.
  6. Ensure that Automatic updates is checked.

The LG TV remote should not be used with your phone.

If you have an LG TV device, you can control it via an app on your phone if you wish.

Using the LG ThinQ app on your phone and controlling the TV at the same time causes AirPlay to fail.

It’s easier to change the settings on your LG TV by using the remote that comes with it rather than the app.

You may want to try closing the LG ThinQ app on your phone before you try connecting to AirPlay again.

The LG TV can be reset by resetting the paired devices.

In case the problem persists, let’s try resetting the paired devices to see if that will solve it.

Choose “Home Dashboard” from the remote control’s menu at the bottom.

Toggle over to AirPlay > AirPlay and HomeKit Settings on your remote by clicking the UP button on the remote. You need to select the Require Code option and then scroll down to the Reset Paired Devices section.

Once you reset the devices, the previously connected devices will be forgotten, so you’ll have to reconnect them. Whenever you have issues with LG TV AirPlay not working, you may find that resetting the paired devices helps.

Your LG TV needs to be factory reset to fix the AirPlay not working issue.

The LG TV AirPlay not working issue can sometimes be resolved by a factory reset of your TV as a last resort. LG TVs that are factory reset must be updated again after being reset to factory settings.

Trying the other solutions is recommended because re-signing in to all your apps can be a hassle. There is, however, a way to fix the AirPlay not working issue by performing a factory reset.

Click on the Gear icon at the top of the remote control once the TV has been turned on.

After that, you will have to navigate down to All Settings (Advanced Settings) > General > Reset to Initial Settings. You will be able to see the initial setup screen on your TV after it has been turned off and on again.

In this way, you will be able to restore the settings of your LG TV to the way it was before you bought it. All account settings and any installed apps will be removed as a result!
